I grew up in Seattle, and after graduating high shool I spent the next 10 years all around this wonderful country. After graduating top five in my high school class in 1994, I attended the Univeristy of California, San Diego, where I majored in Cognitive Neuroscience and Computer Science. During my tenure at school, I worked on projects that involved hypnosis and computer programming for artificial intelligence. I graduated with honors from U.C.S.D. in 1999. While in school, I was also a member of the nationally competitive golf team.
In 2000 I moved to Park City, Utah, to help run a start-up website design company called High Country Internet and co-found the vacation planning service Ski West, Inc. While in Utah, I gained valuable real world experience building websites and working directly with a wide variety of clients. A seventy hour work week was the norm, as was back-country snowboarding on epic powder days. I guess you can say that I learned my "book smarts" from the University and my "street smarts" from the start-up company.
Chasing my dreams of being a professional golfer, I moved to Port St. Lucie, Florida, in 2002. It was so much fun to play golf every day and to enjoy my passion as my career. Unfortunately, I was a better golfer in my dreams than in reality. When I wasn't golfing or reviewing videos of my swing, I was designing websites for friends and business acquaintances. I also helped start an online fundraising company, assisting groups all over the nation to raise money for their individual needs. Although I am not having a Sunday shootout with Tiger on national TV, my experience in Florida was priceless and I encourage everyone to pursue their dreams.
And that is why I am back in Seattle now. My heart feels at home here and I am close to my family and friends. I also feel at home in front of a rockin' computer on a high-speed Internet connection, turning my clients' dreams into reality and making their websites work for them.
