Unfortunately, this no longer works. However, I've just written some new instructions for doing exactly this at my blog: http://www.thewanderingbrit.com/2009/07/08/post-your-facebook-status-updates-to-twitter-automatically/

Instruction fail. I searched facebook help for "rss" and the answer is:

If you would like to create an RSS Feed for your Facebook Notifications you can do so by going to your Inbox and selecting the Notifications tab. On the following page will be the option to "Subscribe to Notifications" on the right. After clicking "Your Notifications", Facebook will generate an RSS Feed that you can save to your bookmarks folder and view in your browser. You will now have an auto-updating RSS Feed that alerts you of important things on Facebook involving your account (i.e. Wall posts, photo tags etc).

Update: while the above method works, it takes a good 20-30 minutes for my Facebook Status to show on Twitter, which pretty much defeats the purpose of Twitter in the first place. That is, providing real-time updates on what I'm doing.

So, I decided to try a Facebook App called Twitter Updater. It sounds perfect and was super easy to install (just add the app and enter your Twitter user/password), but my initial tests took over 30 minutes to show up on Twitter. Argh!

Perhaps Twitter Updater was slow because I still had Twitter Feed running. I've since turned Twitter Feed off and will give TU another shot but I'm not holding my breath.

Maybe it will work better to make my status updates via Twitter and have them automatically copied to Facebook? My bud Ruben says this works well for him...

Oh yeah, and another annoying thing about the FB iPhone App is that it requires all of my status updates to begin with "Matt is" which makes for some really lame and grammatically totally incorrect posts!
